Honoring a meaningful community partnership in support of the men and women who serve!
On May 7th, 2026, community leaders, military members, and project partners gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the new Honor Guard Facility at Luke Air Force Base. The event marked the completion of a meaningful project dedicated to supporting the Airmen who perform more than 1,000 military funeral honors and 3,000 ceremonial events annually.
The new 7,700-square-foot facility serves as a major improvement for the Honor Guard team, providing indoor drill practice areas, locker rooms, lounges, and professional office space. The building allows guardsmen to train and prepare indoors rather than enduring Arizona’s extreme summer temperatures outdoors.
This project was made possible through an incredible community and military partnership. IDM is honored to have contributed alongside organizations including Colliers Engineering & Design, Deutsch Architecture Group, and Fighter Country Foundation, as well as the many individuals and partners who generously donated their time, materials, and expertise to bring this vision to life.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony welcomed more than 100 attendees and included remarks from military leadership and community partners, with IDM Founder Jeff Gordon helping officially cut the ribbon. We would also like to give special recognition to our own construction teammate, Josh Krenkel, who was honored with a commemorative coin from Fighter Country Foundation President Ron Sites for his dedication to the project. Over the past year, Josh made Luke Air Force Base his second home, showing up daily, including many weekends, to help bring this vision to life and ensure the project was completed the IDM Way.
Projects like this are a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished through collaboration, service, and community partnership. We are proud to have played a role in creating a lasting space that will support and honor the Airmen who serve our country every day!
