IDM Team Assists in Packing Lunches for the Share Summer Meal Program

The Pacific Northwest IDM team assists in packing lunches for food-insecure children across Vancouver.

Last week several IDM team members from the Pacific Northwest visited Share to assist in packing balanced meals for children across Vancouver. The Share Summer Meal Program provides about 400 lunches per day in the summer months to food-insecure children who typically rely on school provided meals. Bagged lunches are then distributed to sites across town such as the Cascade Public Library, where children can enjoy a healthy lunch and do some summer reading.

“During the summer months, some children don’t have access to school lunch or breakfast. There’s a lot of families on food assistance over the summer,” said Molly Evjen, director of volunteers and community resources at Share. “The Summer Meals program is just here to fill any gaps.”
